Licensed Social Worker
Julie Stender holds a master’s degree in Social Work from the University of St. Thomas/ The College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minnesota. Additionally, she holds a Life Coaching Certificate from Adler Graduate School in Richfield, Minnesota.
Stender has worked as a therapist for the over 20 years primarily working with children and teens in a variety of settings such as adoption agencies, alternative school programs, community mental health, and intensive outpatient programming.
She works diligently to meet young people where they are and to make sure they feel comfortable in therapy. To that end, sessions have been known to include art, games, music, videos, puppies and walks outside. She will do whatever it takes to shatter any negative, preconceived notions her clients may have about therapy.
In 2017, Stender completed Improv Training which provided many of the ‘think on your feet’ skills necessary for working with children and teens. She finds fun ways to integrate Accelerated Resolution Therapy® (ART) into sessions with her clients of all ages.
Currently, Stender has a private practice, Starfish Services, LLC, in Chanhassen, Minnesota. Her approach is solution-focused, client-centered and driven by a genuine interest in helping people create the lives they want.
